Graston Technique®

Graston Technique® is used to identify and break down scar tissue and to reduce inflammation that is causing pain and restricting mobility. It involves the use of stainless steel instruments to gently massage and scrape over the skin to “catch” on fibrotic tissue to determine areas of restriction. The instruments enable clinicians to treat soft tissue lesions with the depth, pressure, and specificity necessary to affect the condition at the site of pain, as well as to follow the kinetic chain to find and treat the cause. Combined with strengthening, stretching, and ice in the treatment and rehab process, the Graston Technique® can rebuild injured soft tissue into healthy, functioning tissue. The technique is used by physical therapists, occupational therapists, hand therapists, chiropractors, and athletic trainers.
